Central to the Algarve region, Quinta da Palma is located in the Barrocal, close to a small village called Paderne.
A private garden in a rural context, where the muddy terrain and difference in levels strongly demarcated the need of creating conditions to become a pleasant and accessible space. A small area but with the potential interest of becoming a charming and picturesque garden for a holiday home.
Handling the genesis of the place, ARLAS designed this garden to be functional and pleasant in terms of accessibility, and strong tones. Based on inert materials such as wood and stone, a “fan-like” retaining wall was created where the vegetation contrasts and subtly softens its magnificence. Around this, a path with wooden steps appears, which turns into a peaceful walkway where the whole garden can be contemplated by its colour palette and shapes.
